1. George Washington did not have wooden teeth. He actually had dentures made from gold, ivory, and animal teeth.


2. Andrew Jackson taught his parrot to say curse words. He had to be removed from Jackson’s funeral because he couldn’t stop cursing!

3. Martin Van Buren is rumored to have popularized the most common term OK or Okay. Van Buren was from Old Kinderhook, NY and his support groups were known as O.K. clubs.

4. Abraham Lincoln was known to be a great wrestler. In 1831, a local bully challenged him to a wrestling match and Lincoln won!

5. Benjamin Harrison was scared of electricity! He was the first sitting president to have electricity installed in the White House. He refused to touch light switches for fear of being electrocuted.

6. Herbert Hover spoke fluent Mandarin. His family had lived in China before he became president. He and his wife were known for speaking Mandarin around the White House so that no one could understand them.

7. Gerald Ford was a model in the 1940’s before he was president. He was even on the cover of Cosmopolitan, check it out below!

8. Bill Clinton is a two-time Grammy winner. He won in 2004 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children and in 2005 for Best Spoken Word Album.


9. George W. Bush was a cheerleader in high school. In fact, he was the school’s head cheerleader!

10. Barack Obama is actually a secret comic book nerd! He collects “Spider-Man” and “Conan The Barbarian” comics! He seems like someone we would definitely get along with!
